Each person who helps run your profile should have their own Google Account, so nobody needs your password. Google has two roles: owners have full control (including adding or removing people and deleting the profile) and managers can do almost everything else, such as editing info, replying to reviews and posting.
Step by step
- Open People and access: go to your Business Profile and select More, then Business Profile settings, then People and access.
- Add someone: select Add, enter their email, choose Owner or Manager and select Invite. Give agencies and staff the Manager role unless they truly need to add or remove people.
- Change a role: select the person, select Edit next to Access, choose the new role and save. Google says only owners can change roles.
- Remove a former employee or agency: select the person and choose Remove person. Google says only owners can remove owners and managers; if you can't select them, you probably only have manager access. Their past review replies and posts stay on the profile.
- Primary owner leaving? A profile has one primary owner, who can't remove themselves until primary ownership is transferred to another owner or manager.
- Know the 7-day limit: Google says new owners and managers must wait 7 days before they can delete the profile, remove other owners or managers, or transfer primary ownership.
- Nobody in the business has owner access at all? Then you need to request ownership instead: see someone else owns my profile.
What not to do
- Don't share your Google password or verification codes with staff or agencies; invite them as managers.
- Don't make an agency the primary owner of your profile.
- Don't create a new profile because you've lost access; duplicates are against Google's guidelines.
- Don't leave ex-employees with owner access after they leave.

Why do I get an error removing someone right after I was added?
Google says new owners and managers have to wait 7 days before removing other owners or managers, transferring primary ownership, or deleting the profile.
