Google Business Profile verification pending or stuck

After you complete a verification step, Google reviews it. Google's help page says verification reviews take up to 5 business days, and on rare occasions longer. Most 'stuck' profiles are either still inside that window or were knocked back by an edit made while waiting.

Step by step

  1. Count business days from your last verification step, not from when you created the profile. Within 5 business days, waiting is the right move.
  2. Check your email and the profile itself (signed in to the right Google Account) for a 'Review issues' or 'Get verified' message. If 'Get verified' is back, the attempt didn't complete; see verification failed.
  3. Postcard? Google says most codes arrive within 14 days and codes expire after 30 days. Don't request a new code while one is in the post: that cancels the first one.
  4. Freeze edits to name, address and category until you're verified.
  5. Past 5 business days with no message? Try any other method shown on the profile, then contact Google Business Profile support (Google's help page links to it) or ask in the official community forum.

Common questions

Is 'pending review' the same as suspended?

No. Pending means Google hasn't finished checking. Suspended means a decision was made against the profile; that has its own notice and an appeal process.

Can I make changes while pending?

You can, but changes to name, address or category can restart checks and, for postcard codes, make the code stop working.

Honest note: This page summarises Google's own public help articles (linked above) plus common-sense checks. We are not Google and can't see inside your account, so we can't promise any outcome: Google alone decides suspensions, appeals, verification and rankings.
